Sometimes the old folks say that this wealth wasn't meant for you to earn. I didn't believe it before, but now I feel I have to believe it at least a little.
Why do I say that?
emm, this takes us back to the day before yesterday. The day before yesterday I used AI to help me scan domains, and I accidentally scanned a two-character domain under .HK, priced at only 145 a year, called K7.HK. But the day before yesterday I hesitated for just a moment, because I was worried the holding period would be too long, causing my holding costs to keep climbing, and it was possible that I'd eventually have to let this domain go because I couldn't afford to renew it.
However, just yesterday, when I wanted to check again whether that domain was still available, I looked up the whois and found it had already been snapped up. Instantly I felt like I'd missed out on a hundred million. But on second thought, sometimes that saying really is true—this wealth truly wasn't meant for me to earn. If I'd been decisive and grabbed it, I estimate I could've earned a few thousand more, because .HK domains aren't really non-mainstream domains. First, they can be filed for ICP registration; second, it's very short—a short domain, which I really like, just like this site's J9.GS, with almost zero memorization cost. However, J9.GS has only one drawback: currently it can't undergo ICP filing in mainland China, which has kept my blog from truly "going legit" (becoming a site with an ICP filing number). K7.HK, though, makes up for this perfectly. I even entertained the idea of using K7.HK to formally replace this site's J9.GS, getting it filed and using it as the official domain.
Even now, as I'm typing this article, I still feel it's a great pity.
